Average Hourly Base Wage: Enter that average hourly base wage for all direct care RNs at your facility. If you have the average annual salary, divide by 2,080 hours to calculate the hourly wage. Based on 2010 information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average hourly rate for an RN is $32.56.
Average Work Week Hours: Select 36 hours or 40 hours based on the scheduled work week for the majority of direct care RNs within your facility.
Average OT Hours Per Week: Enter the average hours of overtime a direct care RN works at your facility. Overtime hours include hours worked above 40 hours per week, or 8 per hours per day in some states. Based on the 2011 KPMG labor cost study, the national average is 4 hours per week.
Total PTO & Holiday Days Per Year: Enter the total number of all paid holiday days, and the average of either Paid Time Off days, or the average total of Vacation and Sick Days if a PTO plan is not utilized. For example, if your facility has 8 paid vacation days, and the average RN receives 15 days PTO, enter 23 days into this field. The national average based on the 2011 KPMG Labor Cost study is 24 days.
